Inheritance
Humanity regularly courts disaster. At the same time, we are empowered and emboldened by a steady stream of technological marvels, rapidly inventing solutions to problems we didn’t previously see or comprehend. In short, we are living with and through mega-crises as the pace of change accelerates and the unintended consequences of human action over Millenia multiply and overwhelm.

How do we understand and acknowledge what it is to be human and conscious in our complex 21st century context? Can we reconcile the contradictions that define us? Will future generations inherit a wasteland or a wonderland? "Inheritance" is a portrait of resilience and persistence.

My studio practice is equal parts sense-making and pursuit of solace. Inspired by acts of courage - both individual and collective - my work hints at patterns and considers the dynamic tension between past and future, known and unknowable, hope and fear, convergence and divergence, order and chaos.

About The Artist
I am a painter, a printmaker, and an art quilter. I print and paint on a range of fine art papers, panels, and other substrates. A single work often combines zinc plate monoprint with screen printing, block printing, hand coloring and/or stitching. Scale is relative; the most intimate prints can suggest broad landscapes and larger works can explore a microscape.
Artist's Statement
For me, art-making is equal parts sense-making and solace. My most successful work springs from an internal truth that is tethered to external reality. I don’t know where I’m heading when I pick up my tools, but along the way the work reveals something about me and my experience of the world. “Inheritance” began as a reflection on springtime and renewal. It evolved into a visual exploration of the resilience that can emerge through adversity.
