Top Row- L to R: 1.Monochromatic, 2.Analogous, 3.Complementary, 4.Triadic
Middle Row- L to R: 5.Tetrad, 6.Split Complementary, 7.Analogous Complementary, 8.All neutral
Bottom Row- L to R: 9.Neutral & Saturated, 10.All Saturated, 11.High Key, 12.Anything goes.
Explanation of Color Schemes:
1. Monochromatic: elegant, easy on the eyes. Uses single color throughout in various tints, shades and tones. Need one color of your choice, plus black and white.
2. Analagous: has a simple elegance, pleasing to the eye. Uses 2, 3 or 4 colors that sit adjacent to one another on color wheel.
3. Complementary: offers most visual contrast. Made up of 2 colors sitting opposite on color wheel
4. Triad: gives ample color contrast and balance. Uses 3 colors equally spaced around color wheel.
5. Tetrad: Uses 4 colors made from 2 complementary pairs. To avoid overwhelming visual tension, it's a good idea to choose one dominant color and accent with the rest.
6. Split Complementary: Uses a color and the 2 colors adjacent to the complement. Features color contrast with less tension than complementary scheme.
7. Analagous Complementary: Incorporates 3 side-by-side hues plus the complement of the center color.
8. All Neutrals. Uses colors that have been grayed down. Creates soft mellow mood.
9. Saturated and Neutral: Pairs highly saturated colors with various shades of gray
10. Saturated: Yields a very lively painting. Uses brightest colors possible with vey few neutrals of grays.
11. High Key: mostly lighter values-colors that have been tinted[white has been added]. Good for a sunny beach scene for example.
12. Anything Goes: Use whatever colors you wish.

About The Artist
After a science focused formal education, a decades long health care career, and raising 2 lovely children with my husband in Tiburon, I decided to turn my attention to painting. In my pursuit to capture the beauty of the world around me. I had to learn how to harness the power of color and light to help me express and communicate. The process has been a fascinating, enriching and humbling experience.
Artist's Statement
This cheerful Coffee Cups representation depicts 12 different color schemes. The colors selected are based upon the Color Wheel - a simple visual tool that shows the relationship among different colors.
The color schemes are as follows, shown by row from left to right:
Top Row: Monochromatic, Analogous, Complementary, Triadic
Middle Row: Tetrad, Split Complementary, Analogous Complementary, All Neutral
Bottom Row: Neutral and Saturated, All Saturated, High Key, Anything Goes.
